To contribute to a thriving India; where all have access to quality healthcare, education, protection of children's rights, and a safe and enabling living environment.
ARUNA is a non-profit organisation operating in the Indian state of Odisha. The organisation works across a wide spectrum of development priorities, including Health, HIV & AIDS, Child Rights and Protection, Education, Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Action, and research to inform evidence-based policies. ARUNA advances its mission through meaningful partnerships with diverse stakeholders—ensuring a collaborative, community-driven, and sustainable development approach.
Seven commitments that guide every program, partnership, and intervention we undertake.
To contribute to ending the HIV epidemic by strengthening prevention and treatment access, improving care and support systems for people living with HIV, and advancing strategies that eliminate stigma and discrimination across communities and institutions.
To strengthen gender equality and social inclusion by empowering women, youth, sexual minorities, migrants, and other marginalised groups to access opportunities, participate in decision-making, and exercise their rights.
To strengthen child protection systems by enhancing prevention, early identification, and response mechanisms to protect children from abuse, exploitation, violence, and unnecessary institutionalisation, and to promote family-based care, rehabilitation, and long-term well-being.
To expand equitable access to quality and inclusive education for children, adolescents, and vulnerable groups by strengthening learning opportunities, life-skills development, leadership capabilities, and active participation both in and beyond school settings.
To build community resilience by raising awareness and strengthening disaster risk reduction, climate adaptation, and community-based emergency response systems.
To advance community-led development models by fostering strong partnerships with government, academic institutions, and civil society organisations, promoting evidence-based practices, innovation, and collective action for sustainable change.
To undertake research, evidence generation, and policy advocacy to influence and strengthen public systems, governance, and development programs.
