Ganjam district has long been recognized as one of the high-prevalence districts in India, where large-scale out-migration has contributed to increased vulnerability to HIV. While migration itself is not a direct cause of HIV transmission, the risk environment surrounding migration significantly increases exposure for vulnerable populations.
Notably, no other non-governmental organization has been actively working on HIV prevention and care among migrant populations in Ganjam, making ARUNA's contribution both unique and crucial for public health in the district.
